CREOLE is by essence a “Métissage” (melting pot/mix)– made up of a colourful blend of races and cultures all of whom bring something of their own customs, predominantly descendents of African, European, Chinese, Indian settlers – and it is an inclusive culture regardless of ethnic origin. Thus, the event is designed for everyone.

Londoners will have the opportunity to experience the different aspects of the Creole culture and its diverse human and cultural heritage. There will also be activities for Children and Adults of all ages.

Creole speaking people living in the Caribbean is used to travelling to and attending such events in other parts of the world. They would be keen to join as participants/exhibitors/performers too.

The majority of the Creole speaking population lives abroad. For example, there are around 300 000 Caribbean people in London who could be potential visitors to our event.

Furthermore, because a large part of our community originates from French overseas departments (or ex-colonies), the estimated 400 000 French nationals residing in the UK are particularly aware of the Creole culture and potentially interested in attending the event.

Everyone would learn about similarities and differences in the various locations where Creole is spoken e.g. Creole from Reunion vs. Creole from French Guyana, Louisiana Cajun food vs. Martinique’s food ; Brazilian capoeira vs. Gwoka dance from Guadeloupe…
